Your Role

Your role as an Organizational Head is to set the tone for your organization.  It is your role to foster an environment that supports disclosures of wrongdoings and to provide support to your Designated Officer. 

Organizational Heads are also assigned some specific duties under PIDA.  Organizational Heads must:

  • appoint a senior official from their organization to be the Designated Officer for the purposes of PIDA.  If the Organizational Head does not appoint a Designated Officer he or she is responsible to carry the duties of the Designated Officer;
  • establish procedures to manage employee disclosures of wrongdoings; 
  • ensure that information about PIDA and related disclosure procedures are widely communicated to employees; and
  • submit annual reports on disclosures made under PIDA.
